I have an 05 Dakota 3.7L with 1,500 miles. It has a very rough idle. Two dealers have told me "they all do that". Anyone else having this problem?

My '05 SLT 4.7L does the same thing.

Replaced air filter, maintained oil changes, and installed new/different plugs. 17K miles and still same irratic idle from the begining.

The truck doesn't seem to mind and I have yet to notice any lag or hick-ups upon gassing the vehicle.

my 03 4.7 does the same thing a low idle. dodge customer service is looking in to a way to raise the idle beings its computer controled. I will be getting a supertuner programer when taxes comes back. I am hoping it will fix this idle prob. maybe they set it higher than dodge has it set.

Yeah I also had that on my 3.7L V6 in my 2006. There was this hick-up in the idle, sometimes seemed a little rough as well. I lived with it. At 30,000 miles I changed my plugs like normal, the coppers were NGK, they were well worn, I replaced them with Autolite Double Platinums.

Everyone recommended I stick with copper, but I refuse to change plugs every 30k.

So long story short I changed the plugs, gapped the new ones to .035, the truck now idles smooth. The hick-up is gone. (my hick up was like a tiny rpm drop during idle) Everything seems pretty good.

Reguarding the plats, the power seems the same, no loss in gas mileage noticable. The 3.7L seems to do really well with them.

Good Luck.

Is that the gap your truck called for or you have another reason for that gap because my truck calls for .040 and I replaced the plugs with the platinum plugs and I still have the stutter in my idle. My truck is also an 06 3.7L V6.
