Applications include manual transmissions and transaxles such as New Venture NV T350, NV 1500, NV 2550, NV 3500, NV 3550, NV 5600 and Tremec T-4, T-5, T-18, T-176, TKO-500, TKO-600, TR-3450 and TR-3550. You have options as listed below, and I have included more information than what you need in case someone else has a similar, but differently configured, 1998 Dakota 5.2L. I would however suggest 5w-30 Motor Oil and Severe Gear 75w-90 Gear Lube (Colorado cold starts, very hard driving, lots of start/stop city driving, heavy towing, and lots of high RPM offroading).

No concern whatsoever with the mileage. It's a "myth" anyway that "mileage" is an issue. It's all about the maintenance history of "much older" vehicles. In an older vehicle that has not been maintained well, there might be crud buildup inside the engine. Synthetic's (with their extra detergents) might begin to eat away at that crud and two things might happen. Either a loosened piece of crud gets trapped inside the engine and causes blockage, or the loosened crud was around a seal and once removed the seal might leak if it was already damaged. It appears your original request has been deleted, so maybe you don't need the information any longer. So, to save time and energy I won't post the complete list for your 1998 Durango SLT. However, if you happen to read this thread, I recommend Low Viscosity ("Colorado cold start"), Amsoil Series 2000 Synthetic Motor Oil ("high RPM offroading") which provides for greater sheer protection and lower operating temperatures, and Amsoil Sever Gear gear lube ("heavy towing, high rpm offroading"), and our top-of-the line Amsoil Synthetic Water Resistant Grease (water, mud, snow or ice in Colorado).

2000 Dodge Durango 4x4, 4.7L, 45RFE, Full time transfer case, 3.92 Front, and a 8.25 in the rear. Where I get my oil changes at they wants $69.99 for the front $39.99 for the Tansfer case, and $79.99 for the Rear. The brands are Castrol (sp). Dont want that in there.

I've got a question for you. My dads a tranny guy and also is good at setting up rears. He likes using the ford friction modifier even in mopar's and danas. When we reuilt mine I used mobil1 synth and a bottle of ford modifier. My mustang friend says you shouldn't run modifier in a synth gear oil because they already have friction modifiers.

Should I change my gear oil and run straight synthetic? My LSD is being kind of lame, especially in the snow. I don't want it to act up on me at autoX.
