Are there any vehicle painters on this site or anyone that is familiar enough with the process to answer a question for me? My question is this....i have an '02 Durango with the dark blue paint job (not sure of the proper name or code). The problem is, it's the SXT and it's got the 2 tone paint job. The truck is blue, but the fender flares, side steps, grille and both bumpers are like a silvery gray. I want the whole thing to be the same blue color. Does anyone have an idea of about how much $$$$$ this would run me to get these pieces painted at a reputable shop? Thanks in advance. :help:

if you can do without your ride for a week or so then remove all the stuff you want painted and take it to a local shop. between 2-300 is a good price for the job.

That's around the price that I was hoping for. I think i can spare about $500. Hopefully it wouldn't be much more than that. I could just remove all that stuff and drive around with an ugly ass looking, bumperless car for a week. :jester: Let's just hope I don't get into a fender bender seeing as how there would be no fender to bend.......just radiator.

body shop wanted 300 just to paint my hood. And being a industrial machine painter and have painted a few cars in my day, I con'd them in to using my paint booth at work and it just cost me for the paint. I'll be shootin the whole thing later on so I have to con them again.

you get what you pay for...... gonna need........... mabye 2quarts of paint (bumpers soak up alot of paint) and the cut in's, blending, etc. so depending on which paint system, paint could cost anywhere from $20/qt to $150/qt. then there is the prep. macco scuffs and shoots, just basic rub down of the car so the new paint has something to adhear to. thats why it only cost $300 for a full car. also you have clear. again depending on the clear it can be anywhere from $40/gal to $200/gal. so there are alot of variables. best thing to do is get a bunch of estimates from local places. ask what kind of paint they use as well. smaller shops are hit or miss. could do really quality work and just be a small shop or be a small shop because of lack of quality. larger shops are like production lines. do good work but they rush somethings and it dosn't always look as good as it should.
